In a twist to the murder tale in Anjuna, the local, who died after being attacked by some tourists, on Friday, also suffered a heart attack, a senior police official informed.
The autopsy report received by the police states that the 45-year-old deceased died of myocardial infraction (MI), which in common parlance is heart attack.
Anjuna Police are studying the post-mortem report and verifying it with the CCTV footage of the attack before arriving at a conclusion in the case.
North Goa SP Shobit Saxena, who was present at the Anjuna police station, informed that, on Friday, police had received information about a violent altercation at a pay parking area in Anjuna and after receiving a complaint an FIR was lodged.
“We have received the post-mortem report of the deceased and are studying it in detail. As per the conclusion of the report we will take further action,” Saxena said.
He also confirmed that a fight had taken place between the local and the tourists.
“We have received the CCTV footage of the incident. We are analysing the footage objectively and the post-mortem report together,” he said.
According to the SP, the five tourists who were detained at the Polem police check post were presently in police custody but have not been formally arrested. The murder charge also remains against the tourists as of now, he said.
