When it comes to singing and music, Goans are second to none, they say. Budding musicians and musically inclined students have an opportunity to fine tune their skills in music as a group of institutions have come together to guide such students on the theme “Be Original “ Be A Creator” of their own music instead of going after cover songs or music.
In fact, MTV artist Varun Carvalho and international singer Irina Blansh agreed that the exercise to tap budding talent may lead to a revolution of sorts in the State’s music scene as they intend to impart skills and techniques to budding talent to create and produce their own music right from an early age.
An earnest beginning will be made on June 21 as Ravindra Bhavan, Margao in association with Rise Nation Army and Musica Guru will hold a workshop for musically inclined students titled “Be Original, be a Creator” from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.
Addressing the media, Ravindra Bhavan Chairperson Prashant Naik said the purpose of the workshop is to ignite the creative spark in the budding musicians and equip them with the skills to create and produce their own music right from an early age.
He said the highly acclaimed faculty led by MTV artist Varun Carvalho, international singer Irina Blansh, music composer Mukesh Ghatwal and multi-instrumentalist Rocky Lazarus together with the Rise Nation Excellence Academy will guide and mentor the students in the nuances of original song writing.
Added Varun Carvalho: “This workshop is unique and is a good opportunity for musically inclined students to learn and interact with the highly acclaimed faculty and grow as musicians. This is just a beginning. There’s huge music talent in the State. What we are trying to achieve through the workshop is to tell the students to be original and be a creator of their own music and songs.”
The Ravindra Bhavan chairperson said what has been planned on June 21 is not a one-time exercise, but assured to do a follow up in the days ahead.
Around 350 students from Salcete schools have confirmed participation in the workshop, which will start at 9.30 am and will conclude at 4.30 pm.
