Muthalik banned from entering Goa, yet again

It’s been more than five years now that Sri Ram Sene leader Pramod Muthalik has been banned from entering the state and the ban continues.

the goan I networkrPANAJI rrThe District Magistrate North Goa has banned the entry of Pramod Muthalik, leader of “Sri Ram Sene” and any of his associates or members within the jurisdiction of North Goa District for a period of 60 days with effect from June 30, 2017 under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973.rThe step has been taken to prevent every possibility of disturbance to law and order and danger to public safety due to their aggressive statements or speeches that could hurt the sentiments of certain groups of the public and instigate violence, thus adversely affecting public peace and tranquility.rA similar move is also expected from the South Goa District Magistrate with both the Magistrates issuing the orders in tandem. rChief Minister Manohar Parrikar was the first to invoke a ban on Pramod Muthalik no sooner he became chief minister in 2012 after Muthalik attended the Hindu Rashtra convention at Ramnathi in Ponda where he made provocative statements. rHowever, even though this year a Sadhvi, in the form of Sadhvi Saraswati made provocative statements but is yet to be on the receiving end of any such ban. rSuch a ban was demanded by civil society in the form of artistes Hema Sardesai and Prasad Pankar publicly calling for such a ban.
