While people in other parts of the State have complained of water shortage, locals at Shelpe-Nagargao in Sattari have been receiving water, but they have also been affected as muddy water has been flowing from their taps in the village.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, a local, Dashmita Gawas said muddy water had been flowing from their taps for several days, forcing them to rely on water from nearby water bodies and putting them to risk of contracting infection from using the untreated water for consumption purposes.

“Locals have complained to the PWD regarding this muddy water, but nothing has been done in the matter. We have not option but to get water from the nearby river to fulfil our requirements,” complained Gawas.

“Authorities had assured to provide villagers with toilets but many houses still do not have toilet facilities. Many villagers had submitted their names for this toilet facility, but they are still waiting for these toilets,” Gawas added.
