Disappointed over the absence of cricket star and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu at a public meeting in Quepem, the audience was in for another star treatment, as Bollywood actress Nagma urged people to vote for Congress to save the country and for development of all communities.
“The BJP doesn’t have leaders in their party and hence, they have imported leaders from Congress either by blackmailing or by buying them. The BJP has also does not have any new schemes of their own but have renamed schemes of Congress as their own,” said

She said the Congress is committed to fulfil all election promises and seriously tackle unemployment
issue.
She asked the crowd to think wisely for the better future and development of the country and Goa.
Former chief ministers Ravi Naik and Pratapsing Sane, Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias and State Mahila Congress president Pratima Coutinho, spoke about failed the promises of BJP’s government, mining crises in Goa and hardships faced by mining dependents, the unemployment and the demonetization effect.
Quepem MLA and Opposition Leader Babu Kavlekar requested the people not to vote for AAP as every vote to AAP would indirectly go to BJP.
“There is an understanding between BJP and AAP to split votes of Catholic voters so that the BJP can win,” claimed Kavlekar, while promising that the scheme announced by Congress President Rahul Gandhi of giving Rs 6,000 per month to poor families would be implemented as soon as Congress forms the government at the Centre.
Congress candidate Francisco Sardinha spoke about nationalization of rivers, coal pollution, his achievement of getting a train to Vailankanni, flights for Haj pilgrimage and development of Dabolim airport.
He assured to work for the people and said there was also a hope that he could even get a ministerial post at the centre, if the Congress formed the government.
