Raking up the issue of fake certificates allegedly submitted by RTO inspectors during recruiting process, former chief minister Ravi Naik stated that he has asked for details under RTI in a bid to expose Transport Minister Sudin Dhavalikar.

In a counter attack against Dhavalikar in a news conference, who had levelled allegations against Naik on the Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir issue, Naik said, “Dhavalikar is trying to divert attention of the public and this is a political gimmick.”

“Everyone knows how the RTO inspectors were appointed on fake certificates. Once I get the documents in my possession, the whole issue will be exposed,” said Naik, while hitting out at Dhavalikar.

It may be recalled that Dhavalikar on Saturday had criticised Naik over the demolition of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir and said the former chief minister was responsible for reconstructing it in an unplanned manner.

He had alleged that Naik as MLA had failed to shift main water pipeline passing from Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir, which was recently shifted at a cost of Rs 28 lakh.

“I challenge Sudin Dhavalikar on the issue, he should ask for joint inspection along with me and I will show him that the pipeline was 15 metres away from the original structure,” Naik claimed.

Reacting to Dhavalikar's apology to the public after Shiroda, Marcaim and Ponda constituencies were left without water due to shifting of the pipeline, Naik replied: "It was unwanted and he did it only to derive sympathy."

According to Naik, he had never sought the demolition of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir.

“I had just asked for the renovation of Kala Mandir, I never asked for demolition. It was partially demolished to facilitate new structure."

"Dhavalikar should come clear what he did for artistes of Goa and his constituency. Apart from Kashinath ground, he should show which projects in Marcaim constituency have been done by him," said Naik, while challenging the minister to prove his developmental works.

“The work order for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) project was given by Sudin Dhavalikar. He had mentioned it in the assembly. He wants to divert the whole issue and is levelling allegations against me,” said Naik.
