BICHOLIM

Investigations by Bicholim Police have revealed that Satish Parwar (17) from Gaonkarwada-Narvem, allegedly lost his life after intervening and attempting to stop a fight between the accused Suraj Asbe (20) and another friend at Maulinguem.

According to Bicholim Police, the statement given by the prime accused Asbe revealed that he had committed the crime and not Ganesh Rawal (22).

Asbe stated that he along with Rawal and deceased Satish had gone to a zatra at Maulinguem on January 7. Before going to the zatra, they consumed liquor at a bar in Bicholim and went for another round of drinks at Maulinguem.

However, as they ran out of money, his friend Rawal along with one person, who is not involved in the case, went to an ATM at Bicholim to withdraw money.

In the meantime, Asbe who was at Maulinguem started a quarrel with a friend. At this juncture, Parwar who was with Asbe intervened and tried to stop the fight along with other friends, before Rawal and the other person reached Maulinguem and stopped the fight.

At night, the trio returned to Narvem, but Asbe was angry as Parwar had intervened in the fight at Maulinguem.

When Rawal left them at Narvem junction and went home, Asbe started quarreling with Parwar. In the ensuing argument, Asbe lifted a laterite stone and allegedly hit Satish's head who was seated on a culvert. Satish died on the spot. Asbe later hid the body into the pipe below the culvert, police added.

Police have also recovered all the evidence and PI Narayan Chimulkar is investigating the case.
