The State government has rolled out the National Transit Pass System (NTPS) in Goa to facilitate seamless transport of forest produce within and outside the State, with immediate effect.
In a notification issued, the government has said that no forest produce shall be moved into, outside or within, the State of Goa except in the manner as provided in the Goa Daman and Diu Forest Rules, 1964 without a transit pass issued in electronic Transit Pass/No Objection Certificate issued through online National Transit Pass System (https:// ntps.nic.in).
“The Transit Pass/No Objection Certificate shall be issued by a Forest Officer or a person duly authorized by him or by online National Transit Pass System electronically,” the notification stated.
The government further said that the Electronic Transit Pass/No Objection Certificate issued through online NTPS shall also be valid in the whole State of Goa and no foreign pass shall be required for forest produce being transported by it.
The Union Ministry for Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) had in December, last year launched a one nation, one pass system to facilitate the seamless transit of timber, bamboo and other forest produce.
