Police apologise for arresting RGP chief in violation of SC guidelines

A police sub-inspector and his subordinate staff have tendered an unconditional apology to the Bombay High Court at Goa for arresting Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) President Manoj Parab during odd hours in April 2020.

The policemen accepted they violated Supreme Court directives in a contempt petition filed against them while seeking unconditional apology. The Bench accepted the apology.

Parab and five others from the organisation were arrested for allegedly violating curfew law and lockdown order. They were subsequently bailed out. According to the complaint, the group of around 25 members had organised a party at Chandel-Hassapur and indulged in a scuffle with the locals upon being questioned about it.
