MARGAO
At the Sunday gram sabha chaired by Sarpanch Rupesh Naik, the issue over the state highway passing through the lake dominated the gram sabha meeting. Members pointed out that the original notification issued in the late 70's showed the state highway passing through the Davorlim, Sao Jose de Areal without passing by the water lake. They demanded that the if at all the state highway is built by the state government, it should be as per the original notification and not as per the whims and fancies of the PWD officials.
The gram sabha also deliberated at the length on the Talak housing project which came up for discussion at the meeting. Members demanded that the Panchayat consult the lawyer and take steps to challenge the decision of the lower court.
Sarpanch Rupesh Naik informed that the panchayat will immediately consult the Panchayat lawyer on the issue and take steps to go in appeal in a higher court.
The village football ground also came in discussion and generated much heat when members pointed out that there's no proper access as well as parking around the ground.
Sarpanch informed that the previous body had already submitted a proposal for land acquisition, adding that the panchayat would follow up the matter and take it to the logical conclusion.
