The bungalow of Gracias located at Colmorod-Navelim seemed to be continuously on the radar of burglars.
The bungalow has been burgled thrice in recent times, but the men-in-uniform appear totally clueless on the repeated burglaries and have utterly failed to lay their hands on the miscreants.
Gracias was abroad when the unknown miscreants effected entry into his bungalow on Thursday night. The incident came to light the next day on Friday when the door was found wide open. Upon being informed of the incident, Gracias came down to Goa to take stock of the situation, only to find the bungalow ransacked. The miscreants had effected entry into the house by breaking the window grills.
The miscreants managed to lay their hand only on cash of Rs 10,000 this time round, as compared to the previous incident when the burglars struck gold amounting to Rs five lakh. What, however, has agitated Gracias the most was that the Goa police's inefficiency in bringing the culprits to book and to stop the burglaries.
“On the previous two occasions, the police came with the sniffer dog and forensic team, but there’s still no breakthrough in the case. I have no idea what the police have done and how efficient they are in resolving such cases. Or are they hand in gloves with the miscreants or are they not interested in taking the investigations to the logical conclusion?” Gracias demanded to know, while asking that the Home department take cognizance of such cases and bring the culprits to book.
When Gracias checked out with the police, they informed him about the night patrolling in the locality, but he wondered how the bungalow could be burgled despite the police around. “My only request to the police is they should be more vigilant and investigate the case. This should not happen to my fellow Goans,” he added.
