Chicalim Dy Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav has claimed that the Navy, which has been misled by a NGO, has begun controlling construction activities on private property as well.
Thanking Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho for asking Naval authorities to submit a clear plan with demarcation of heights for construction in funnel zone, Yadav on Friday said some NGOs with vested interest had provided false information to the navy and sections of media to malign his image.
“Naval authorities had begun controlling any activity of private land owners based on misleading information provided by NGOs. If people have doubts they must approach relevant authorities and seek correct information.”
“Today my image is made such that whatever I build anywhere is considered illegal. I have always been taking all permissions prior to taking up any work,” Yadav told reporters.
“A funnel zone is a vast area from where any plane begins its descend towards the airport and is marked upto 20 kms, even beyond Verna. Any construction in the funnel zone requires naval approval for height and after appropriate clearance, we begin construction.”
“Today, it is a misconception that funnel zones mean no construction.”
Yadav claimed there are hundreds of families who are suffering because their land is a part of the funnel zones.
“Sometimes, the Navy directly denies permission even for one floor without checking the distance from the airport, on grounds of security reasons. What will happen to those who have spent their life’s savings to buy a plot and are saving money to build houses in the area?”
“The Navy must come clear so that people don’t fall in trouble. If they submit their plans for height for construction then people also will be aware before investing what they can get from the plot.”
“If Navy wants then they should acquire the entire funnel zone or they must submit their plans to PDA who can then decide how much height can be permitted as per navy drawings,” said Yadav.
