Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials raided a resort in Calangute in the wee hours of Tuesday and arrested a man who is allegedly involved in drug trade.According to NCB officials, Ahmed, who works as a driver in the resort, was allegedly involved in trafficking of bud (curated marijuana).
“Ahmed was supplying the bud to some prominent receiver at Bangalore, who has linkages with Page 3 celebrities,” said K P S Malhotra of the NCB.
The NCB conducted intensive operations against the illegal import of marijuana, which is primarily sourced from the USA and Canada and has huge market demand in Mumbai.
The NCB officials were led to the State after its operations in Mumbai had found links with Goa.The NCB said that a total of 3.5 Kg of bud has been seized from foreign post offices based on specific inputs.“The seizure made in Delhi was destined for Mumbai while the seizure made in Mumbai was sourced from Canada and destined for Goa,” Malhotra informed.
Incidentally, the resort is owned by the kin of a panch member of the village panchayat of Calangute. It may be recalled, a team of NCB had arrived in Goa last week to investigate a trail of drugs which emerged from the probe into Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Interrogation of actor Rhea Chakraborty, in the Rajput death case had revealed a narco trail to Goa.A café owner from Anjuna was on the radar of the NCB who was summoned to the Mumbai office for interrogation.
