After being postponed twice, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main) finally commenced with students answering their first paper on Tuesday amid stringent precautions and social distancing measures.
Staggered entry and exit for candidates, sanitisers at gates, distribution of masks and social distancing was the order as candidates queued up at examination centres.
The JEE (Main) examination will continue till September 6, while the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 is scheduled for September 13.
The JEE main examinations are being held at 2 centers in Goa namely SRIEIT Shiroda and Tata Consultancy Services premises at Patto Plaza, Panaji.
Police force was also deployed for maintaining social norms. Many students who The Goan spoke to expressed satisfaction over the arrangements.
"All arrangements at the examination centres are good with all safety precautions", said a visibly happy student after coming out of the examination center in Panaji.
Proper social distancing was followed and sanitisation was done, he added. "The benches were place at a safe distance and there was no problem while answering the exam", said another student.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had taken several measures and also increased the number of examination centres. Around 8.58 lakh students across the country have registered for the JEE main exams this year.
