A motorist had a lucky escape as a busy road used by hundreds of vehicles suddenly developed two large holes near Vaddem on Monday evening.
According to an eyewitness, a two-wheeler suddenly sank while in motion on the stretch of the road at the New Vaddem bypass road near Goa Shipyard Limited.
Fortunately for the motorist, he was slow due to traffic congestion near GSL and he could take evasive action.
The eyewitness said onlookers immediately alerted the traffic department to install barricades to prevent other motorists from falling in the holes, while some concerned onlookers placed branches and bags to warn other motorists about the impending danger.
When contacted, a senior official at the PWD Sewerage department at Vasco claimed that they had already been aware of the incident and repair of the road and chambers were taken up on Tuesday morning.
