Points to a case of suicide, say the Quepem police

The search for Vishal Chari, the Goa University faculty who was mysteriously missing since August 29, ended tragically for his family, friends and students.
His highly decomposed body was found by Ponda police on Thursday.
According to Ponda PI Harish Madkaikar, Chari's body has been identified and preliminary evidence points to suicide.
Chari had recently joined the Goa University as faculty after working for some years as professor of Economics at Margao's prestigious Damodar College.
He went missing from August 29, the day he left his home in his Tata Bolt car. A missing person case was booked at the Old Goa police station.
The 37-year-old GU assistant professor's body was found in the forests on Chandreshwar hill in Paroda on Thursday, nearly two weeks after he had gone missing.
Quepem police said the badly decomposed body of Dr Vishal Chari was found in a forest and considering the circumstances, it appeared to be a case of suicide.
“However, this is not confirmed as of now as investigations are in progress,” a source at the Quepem police station said.
When asked if there were any injuries on the body, the police said the body was highly decomposed and injuries, if any, would only be revealed only after an autopsy, which is expected to be conducted on Friday.
Dr Chari had been reported missing from his residence at Merces since August 29 and appeals for public assistance to trace his whereabouts had been widely circulated on social media.
