The High Court of Bombay at Goa has allowed a NEET-UG 2025 candidate to take part in the ongoing admission counselling, despite a mismatch in her name across different documents.

A Division Bench of Justices Bharati Dangre and Nivedita Mehta disposed of the writ petition filed by Vani Sudhir after the State Government said she would be allowed to attend counselling based on her NEET Admit Card and CBSE certificate.

According to the petition, her name was included in the merit list for MBBS, BDS, and allied courses released by the Directorate of Technical Education, Goa. However, a remark in the list said “BC (Birth Certificate) Name Correction,” raising doubts that her admission could be denied.

Her lawyer, Adv Priyanka Kamat, told the court that her School Leaving Certificate from Assam showed her name as “Krishna Sudhir,” while her passport, PAN card, and CBSE certificate carried the full name “Vani Lekshmi Krishna Sudhir.”

She had submitted a self-declaration stating that both names referred to the same person, but her request to correct the records was rejected. She then approached the High Court for help.

During the hearing on August 4, Additional Government Advocate Akshata Bhat told the court that the name on the NEET Admit Card and CBSE 2024 certificate would be accepted for admission. Based on this assurance, the court allowed her to attend counselling on August 5. As her issue was resolved, the court closed the case.
