The process of counting the ballot papers will begin at 8 am across 21 halls at 13 centres. Sequence counting method will be employed to speed up the tedious procedure. However, the counting of ballot papers is expected to conclude only by 9 pm on Tuesday.
Each of the 21 halls will have around 14 tables and hence, will have the capacity to handle two panchayats at a time.
SEC has appointed 21 counting observers and two assistants for each of these observers to oversee the counting on 293 tables across these 13 centres.
There will be seven to eight rounds of counting for each of the 1,450 wards, segregated and matched with the electoral lists to ensure accuracy.
Following the final counting of each panchayat body, the returning officers will issue certificates and declare the results.

SEC swears by
secrecy of
ballot papers
The State Election Commission has categorically stated that the secrecy of the ballot papers has not been compromised in any manner and that the same has been protected on the polling day at all polling stations.
Speaking to The Goan, State Election Commission OSD Dr Y Durgaprasad stated, “The Goa Panchayat Raj Act and Rules have laid down the specific manner in which the ballot papers are to be issued to the electors. The process that was followed during the polls is the same process which has always been followed. The secrecy of the ballot papers has not been compromised in any manner.”
