New seamen’s chief to take up NUSI closure

Newly-elected president of the Goan Seamen Association of India (GSAI) Franklin D'Costa has said that the association will fight against the closure of the NUSI hospital and also take up the issue of deduction of 10 Dollars from the working seafarers.

Franklin further said that he and the new committee will work for the betterment of the seafarers community and take up their grievances.
Franklin will hold the reins of office for a two-year term 2017-19.

Beer fiasco: Medical test of cops returns negative

The medical examination of the three police constables attached to the Margao PCR van, who were referred to Hospicio hospital following accusations that they had consumed beer, has come out negative, but Margao PI C L Patil has submitted a report to the Superintendent of Police to initiate disciplinary proceedings against the cops for allegedly procuring beer from a bar.

While the medical report of the three constables late Friday night emerging negative, PI Patil said he has submitted a detailed report on the alleged indiscipline by the three cops for further action.
