New team takes charge of 127th Damodar Saptah celebrations

The 127th edition of the prestigious Damodar Bhajani Saptah will be organised by a new team, with Bharat Kolgaonkar unanimously elected as the President of the Damodar Bhajani Saptah Utsav Committee during a special annual general body meeting held at the Shri Damodar Temple in Vasco on Sunday.

Prashant Lotlikar was elected as Vice-President, Prakash Gawas as Secretary and Suresh Naik as Treasurer. All the newly elected office-bearers are first-time members of the Saptah Utsav Committee, reflecting the trust placed in a new generation of leaders to organise one of Vasco’s oldest and most revered religious festivals.

Over 200 members attended the meeting and unanimously approved the new committee, marking the start of preparations for this year’s Saptah celebrations.

Addressing the gathering, Central Committee President Prashant Joshi said the committee would continue to work closely with the district administration, police, Fire and Emergency Services, Health Department and other government agencies to ensure the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the festival.

He also announced that comprehensive public insurance cover would again be provided for the Damodar Bhajani Saptah event to ensure the safety of participants during the celebrations.
