NGPDA will raze illegal structures at Candolim: Lobo

He was speaking to reporters while inspecting illegal structures at Candolim beach.
According to reports, a Delhi-based hotel owner had written to the Candolim panchayat seeking permission to construct huts, but the panchayat refused to grant an NOC to the owner on three occasions.   The hotelier went ahead and constructed concrete structures without seeking permission from the panchayat, CRZ and NGPDA.
The panchayats then sent him show cause notice, but the hotelier ignored the notice and panchayat then wrote to NGPDA to conduct inspection and take necessary action.
Acting on the panchayat’s request, Lobo inspected the site along with Candolim Sarpanch Sandra Fialho and other panch members.
“The NGPDA will first serve a notice to the owner and a letter also will be sent to North Goa collector and CRZ. If these two authorities do not take action against the illegal structures within eight days, the NGPDA will take the matter in its own hands and will demolish the structures,” said Lobo.
