CANACONA
Continuous rains in Canacona since the last several days have not stopped ongoing hotmixing of the NH66 highway in the taluka.
Two days before Cyclone Tauktae battered Canacona, the PWD has taken up the pending work of hotmixing the NH66 highway from Char-Rasta to Polem via Poinguinim, which was inaugurated two months ago by PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar at Polem. The hotmixing work got delayed as the hotmixing machinery broke down and the replacement parts were not easily available.
Sources said the part was finally sourced from overseas and the hotmixing work was resumed and from Chaudi to Char-Rasta, while only patchwork had been completed on other stretches of the highway.
Sources added that hotmixing work continued from the Polem end of the highway amid the heavy rainfall in the taluka.
The hotmixing work continued on Wednesday even though the taluka received heavy rains in different spells throughout the day.
