It was a week when political grapevine was abuzz with speculation in the south Collectorate over the exact motive behind BJP MLA Nileshbab Cabral exposing revenue officials right in front of the Ministers Rohanbab Khaunte and Vijaibab Sardesai. The two ministers must have come prepared, expecting some fireworks from Congress bigwigs such as Diggu, Ravibab, Luizinhbab or Filipe Neribab. As it turned out, it was BJP's two-time Curchorem legislator Nileshbab, who virtually took the revenue administration head on, triggering speculations that it was indeed an indirect attack on the Revenue Minister. Taken aback by Nileshbab's vitriol, Vijaibab tried to downplay the episode saying it only goes to show that the coalition believes in democracy, while at the same time taking some pot shots at the rival Congress for not having any issues against the government. Is Manoharbhai aware of what's happening at the district and constituency level amongst members of the coalition partners?
Shamila suspension no secret to GF
Was Goa Forward party supremo Vijaibab Sardesai kept in the loop by his Fisheries Minister Vinodabab Paliencar while recommending the suspension of Fisheries Director Shamilabai Monteiro? It does not seem so, if sources are to be believed. Take note, that seeking nod of the party supremo is not at all required given that the Fisheries Minister is free to take his independent decision. The Shamila Monteiro's case, however, is believed to have been a subject of discussion in the party with some party members weighing the ramifications and the fall out. The GF leadership appears wary and have been trying to ascertain whether suspending the Fisheries Director would go down well with the people, more so with party detractors and the opposition ever ready to beat the regional party by raking up the minority card. Any questions?
Was Filipe Neri Cong choice on TCP board?
Was Filipe Neribab Rodrigues the unanimous choice of the Congress party for appointment as a member of the Vijaibab Sardesai headed Town Planning Board? Even as Vijaibab maintained that he had no role to play in Filipe Neribab's selection, saying his choice was purely that of the Congress party, three-time Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco has begged to differ. In fact, Reginaldbab seemed unhappy about the whole decision. He is believed to have told his close aides in the party that the Party MLAs were never consulted before recommending Filipe Neribab's name on the TCP Board. In fact, the three-time Curtorim MLA has suspected a former Chief Minister in the Congress for taking a call in favour of the Velim MLA. Will the Leader of the Opposition Babu Kavlekar cap the row over Filipe Neribab's appointment on the TCP Board? Wait and watch.
Togetherness at Satyanarayan pooja
Coming back to the Leader of the Opposition Babu Kavlekar, sources said that Babu's relationship with TCP Minister Vijaibab Sardesai has remained intact despite the political developments unfolding in the State post-March 11. This became quite evident when the TCP Minister took time off from his schedule to travel all the way to Quepem taluka to join Babu in his annual Satyanarayan Pooja at his Quittol residence. Sources in the know said that Vijaibab did not let the Opposition leader down as he attended the religious Pooja upon an invitation from Babu. Vijaibab, sources said, has told his friends that he has been attending the Satyanarayan Pooja offered by the Quepem MLA every year, adding that he had no reason to stop visiting the MLA's house. Babu must have been pleased by Vijaibab's visit and so was the TCP Minister, who has maintained his close ties with the Opposition leader.
Once beaten, twice shy
Varca strongman Bab Churchill has finally returned home after a fortnight long annual pilgrimage to Vailankanni. Carmonkars, however, have a question or two for the Benaulim MLA over his stoic silence on the controversial Raheja as well as the spa and resort project. A villager Wenzy Viegas even wondered why the local MLA has been silent on both the Raheja and the resort project. It could not be immediately established what made Wenzy to suddenly remember the Varca strongman. Churchillbab, however, is believed to have told his aides that he will not interfere in Carmona as the people have given a mandate to the panchayat body to take certain actions. Once beaten, twice shy, so goes the good old adage. Churchillbab has still not forgotten how some activists agitated against him by parading a pig outside the Raheja property when he was the PWD minister.
