VASCO
Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar on Friday raised concerns over safety procedures adopted by the contractor to lay the gas pipeline after an underground cable was damaged leading to a 22-hour long power outage in various parts of Vasco on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Amonkar said despite an FIR being lodged, the police had not made any arrests in the case and he has demanded that all losses incurred due to power outage by the government and common people be recovered from the contractor.
Amonkar also warned he will not allow the company to carry out digging anywhere till the credentials of the company are verified.
“I personally went to the site to take stock of the situation. Electricity department officials said they had filed an FIR against the contractor. Ideally, the contractor was duty bound to seek a map from other departments to check for water pipelines and power cables if any,” he said.
