MARGAO
Absence of the Fatorda police and the traffic cops outside the wholesale fish market left Seraulim villagers fuming as they were stranded on the road early Friday morning.
Seraulim villages, especially those heading to Margao to drop their wards for schools, have been the most hit by the traffic congestion outside the wholesale fish market.
An agitated woman two-wheeler rider gave vent to their anger when she has demanded to know why the authorities including the police and the district authorities fail to regulate traffic on the Seraulim-Margao road near the wholesale fish market.
She pointed out that double parking of vehicles along the road has only made matters worse for the motorists coming from Seraulim village, demanding to know why the traffic cops, who stand on the highways to challan riders without head gears, does not descend on the wholesale fish market road and pull up the violators. “Our children reach late for schools, but neither the traffic police or the Fatorda police have worked out any plan to mitigate our hardships and the inconveniences faced by our children,” she added.
Seraulim villagers have long been complaining that the traffic congestion on the road near the wholesale market since they are the worst hit as they are caught up in the traffic jams near the market almost every morning.
Though the Fatorda police headed by PI Navlesh Desai had been posting police personnel at the market to streamline traffic, sources wonder why the traffic police or the RTO are conspicuous by their absence to regulate the traffic flow.
