South Western Railway (SWR) authorities have denied rumours that free tickets are being sponsored to pilgrims travelling to the Shrine of Our Lady of Vailankanni on Train No 17315 from Goa to Vailankanni on May 6, one day before the Lok Sabha polls in Goa.
Stating that the train is always over packed every Monday, SWR Chief Public Relations Officer Manjunath Kanamadi said that the possibility of providing free tickets or even a free train service is illogical.
There had been allegations on social media in Goa that people were being deliberately offered free tickets to go on a pilgrimage by the Goa-Vailankanni train (Train No 17315) on May 6, so that they miss the Lok Sabha polls on May 7.
