Stating that the State government was focused on sustainable development, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said care would be taken to ensure that no house is damaged or demolished during any development or double-tracking work in Dabolim constituency.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the new Dabolim-Bogmalo Traffic Circle and signals, Godinho said another traffic circle would also be set up at the Assoi circle to regulate traffic and reduce accidents.
“We want inclusive development and inclusive growth with the involvement of people. As far as double-tracking is related in Dabolim constituency, no house will be demolished and we have taken care of this.”
“Besides, the Railways will give us a second bridge from the main highway to New Vaddem and no house will be demolished.”
“There is only a small shop which is illegal, but we have still assured to get him a new shop at a different location because we don't want to ruin his livelihood and he has also agreed. In this manner, the government will take up development works without causing problems to anyone," said Godinho.
"Even the Traffic Circle along this busy Dabolim-Bogmalo Traffic Circle required a lot of space and while some cooperated and took their compound walls inside, some others offer space for this project and we did not have to demolish any house,” said Godinho.
The minister hit out at the opposition for displacing placards in the assembly.
"I wonder if the opposition was waiting for the assembly to show the placards. Will the projects be stopped because placards were shown? The opposition must thoroughly discuss the merits and demerits of the projects in the assembly and if possible, convince the government,” said Godinho.
