In an unfortunate incident, two bikers lost their lives when they were crushed under a truck at Deulwadda Arambol Saturday evening.
Mandrem police said that a Swift Car GA-07-F-8139 was parked on the road facing toward Korgao, and its driver negligently opened the door. This imbalanced Deep Naik who was riding the Activa scooter GA-11-F-1764 with Sahil Naik as the pillion rider, and collided with the car door.
Sahil Naik was run over by the truck that was proceeding from Korgao to Arambol. He succumbed thereafter while Deep breathed his last 2-3 hours later in the hospital.
Another rider of the Activa, with registration number GA-02-U 8828, was also injured.
Both drivers, of the Swift car and the truck, fled the scene.
SDPO Jivba Dalvi said that a case has been registered under sections 304(A) (causing death by negligence), 279 (rash driving), 338 (causing grievous hurt) of IPC, and 134(a)(b) of the MV Act.
The police later detained both the car and truck drivers.
The State witnessed a similar fatal accident on Friday when two best friends Tanvesh Naik and Srikar Naik, on a motorbike were hit by an oncoming truck.
