Bluntly ruling out opening up of the tourism sector, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the government has no such plans as of now.
“Positivity rate is still hovering around 2 per cent, even now there are one or two deaths being recorded every day. In view of this the government is not in a position to recommence tourism activities for the moment”, Sawant said.
He said, the State government had also extended the State-level curfew by another week. The curfew which was to end on August 15 has now been extended by 8 more days and will continue till 7 am of August 23.
Sawant also said that by October 2021, Goa will be 100 per cent vaccinated for Covid. As of now 90 per cent people have been vaccinated with first dose, he added.
He was speaking at the handing over function of 31 KL Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) tank installed at GMC Hospital by SBI as part of CSR activity.
The tank which has the highest capacity amongst the LMO tanks installed so far has been funded by SBI Foundation and SBI Maharashtra Circle in coordination with the Goa CSR Authority, Government of Goa.
“Henceforth, there will be no shortage of oxygen in any hospital in the State,” Sawant asserted.
