Just more than one week after the culmination of the Olympics Games, Goa Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar may have just set a new record while making a lightening quick U-turn vis-a-vis organising of massive, packed night parties which were held in the State's coastal belt, especially over the Independence Day weekend.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a government function near Panaji, Ajgaonkar said first that said such parties would not be allowed in Goa, a state which on paper, has a state imposed curfew with strict guidelines against overcrowding.
"Parties not allowed. Show me proof. I will take action," Ajgaonkar said.
Ajgaonkar was asked about a spree of parties which were organised during the Independence Day weekend in the North Goa coastal belt, where social distancing norms were thrown to the wind.
Minutes later, while speaking to reporters once again, Ajgaonkar now claimed that parties are allowed to be held in Goa, albeit with social distancing.
"Everything is allowed, only after SOP is followed. One can have (parties) with social distancing," Ajgaonkar said.
