The number of Covid deaths recorded in the state's mortality bulletin rose once again to 42 while 1,621 new cases of Covid-19 were detected from among the 4,568 samples tested in the last 24 hours.
Of the 42 deaths, 29 occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital, 11 at South Goa District Hospital, one at a private hospital in South Goa and one patient was brought dead at Primary Health Centre, Curtorim. A total of nine of these deceased were below 50 years of age.
The Directorate of Health Services informed that four of the deceased had received the first dose of Covid vaccine.
The daily positivity rate on Sunday stood at 35.48 per cent.
Goa presently has 17,277 active Covid cases while a total of 2,383 persons have succumbed to the disease till date.
Meanwhile, the Covid vaccination drive continues to drag its feet in the state with only 22 persons stepping out to receive their second dose of the vaccine on Sunday.
Till date, the government has successfully vaccinated 95,819 persons fully and 2,84,695 persons partially.
On the other hand, the authorities still have a surplus of 2,86,660 doses of Covid vaccine allotted for the age group of 45 years and above as well as frontline and healthcare workers and a surplus of 5,960 doses from the total 32,870 allotted for the age group of 18 to 44 years.
