MARGAO
A group of residents of Gogol has feared imminent danger to life and property if a retaining wall is not built at an excavated site before the onset of monsoons.
Even as various authorities pass the buck on each other over the delay in the construction of the retaining wall, the residents led by Raghunath Shivram Sangelkar told the media at the site that the retaining wall has not taken shape at the site despite orders passed by various authorities.
“Various authorities, including the flying squad, had warned of imminent danger to the adjoining structures, including houses if the retaining wall is not built at the excavated site, but the wall has not come up as yet,” Raghunath lamented.
Saying that he had petitioned the authorities right from the District Collector to the Prime Minister of India to expedite work on the retaining wall, Raghunath said the authorities have passed orders for the construction of the wall, but the wall has not come up as yet despite the fact that monsoons are round the corner.
Incidentally, Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer Sidhivinayak Naik said the municipal engineers will inspect the site and issue necessary directions to the party concerned to build the wall at the earliest.
Incidentally, the municipality has received a letter from the opposite party saying it had been stopped from putting up the wall, with the Chief Officer saying that municipal engineers will issue directions for the wall construction.
