The nominations for the third phase of Lok Sabha elections will begin on Friday with voters in Goa along with 11 other States and Union Territories to cast their votes on May 7.
A press statement issued by the PIB states that gazette notification for Phase 3 of the General Elections to Lok Sabha 2024 will be issued on Friday, coinciding with the nominations.
"This phase covers 94 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) across 12 States/Union Territories (UTs), with an additional adjourned poll in the 29-Betul PC in Madhya Pradesh. The polling for these constituencies, including the adjourned poll, is scheduled for May 7, 2024," it said.
The last date for nominations for these places is April 19. The 94 PCs included in Phase 3 span across Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The adjourned poll in the 29-Betul (ST) PC of Madhya Pradesh was necessitated due to the unfortunate demise of a contesting candidate from the Bahujan Samaj Party. Initially scheduled for the 2nd Phase, this election will now take place alongside Phase 3 on May 7.
The issuance of the Gazette notification marks the beginning of the election process for Phase 3, setting the stage for candidates to file their nominations and for voters to prepare for the upcoming polls.
