Nominations pick up speed on day 3, eight candidates file affidavits

The Chief Electoral Office (CEO) received a total of eight nominations on the third day of the opening of filing of nominations, four of which were from North Goa.

Panaji BJP candidate Sidharth Kuncalienkar filed his nomination at the Panaji District collector’s office in the city. Others that submitted their nomination from the BJP included Damu Naik for Fatorda, Kiran Kandolkar for Tivim, Dattaprasad Naik for Taleigao and newly-joined Pandurang Madkaikar for Cumbharjua.

In Margao, AAP’s Santosh Raiturkar and his party mate from Shiroda, Molu Velip also filed their nominations. One independent candidate, Krishna Daji Salkar has also submitted his affidavit in Vasco. All in all, there have been 11 affidavit submissions since Wednesday, including those of AAP CM hopeful, Elvis Gomes and Margao’s Congress candidates Digambar Naik and his wife Asha Kamat Naik.

Announcing the nominations, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Narayan Navti said the law and order situation in the state was under perfect control. He also said banners and hoardings were also being removed on a daily basis.
