The Dabolim block of Congress has written to Mormugao Dy SP Sunita Sawant expressing unhappiness over a non-functional police outpost at New Vaddem.
Speaking to reporters, Congress Block President Francisco Nunes said the
police outpost was inaugurated on August 2, 2017 by Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho.
“Godinho inaugurated a police outpost to prevent nefarious activities like drug peddling and other illegal activities plaguing the area. Everyone was pleased with the police outpost and hoped there would be law and order, especially in this area of the constituency.”
“However, we have noticed that with time the police outpost, instead of being open with police monitoring law and order in the area, has always been closed and this is now a major concern to many residents in the vicinity,” said Nunes.
Speaking to the media, Dabolim Congress Youth President Mahesh Bhandari said that with increasing crimes, the Dabolim Congress block had decided to write to Mormugao DySP Sunita Sawant.
“Was the police outpost inaugurated just for the sake of it or was it meant to safeguard the interest of society? Hence, we have decided to bring it to the DySP’s notice. We would like her to take steps to make the police outpost functioning with immediate effect,”
said Bhandari.
