The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Goa, has clarified that it is not involved in the traffic diversion plan for the elevated corridor work at Porvorim.
“The NHAI PIU Goa has a very small jurisdiction of NH-17 B (New NH 566) from Verna junction to Varunapuri junction in the State,” stated NHAI/PIU-Goa Project Director C.O.P Furtado
“The ‘traffic diversion trial’ which was held on NH 66 (Old NH17) is under the jurisdiction of Chief Engineer NH PWD Goa and funded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH).”
The NHAI PIU Goa is presently involved in the construction of a 4-lane flyover from MES College Junction to Bogmalo Junction on NH-566 from km 7.106 to km 10.460 and a 4-lane VUP at Queeny Nagar Junction from km 3.330 to km 4.550 on EPC mode in the State under NH(O).
