Not Saligao, it should be Calangute garbage treatment plant: Lobo

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has called for the Saligao garbage treatment plant to be renamed the Calangute garbage treatment plant as it is located in the Calangute part of the plateau and that it was only because of "one man's ego" that it was named after Saligao.

"It is not the Saligao garbage treatment plant. The name has come as Saligao garbage treatment plant. Just because of one man's ego. It should be changed back. The land has been given by the Calangute comunidade. Only the access road is from the Saligao panchayat and the access road is from Saligao comunidade," Lobo said.
He even went as far as to suggest that the name was finalised as Calangute but on the previous day of the plant's opening, the name was changed to ensure that it is called the Saligao garbage treatment plant. "It should be remembered that those who actually worked to get the garbage plant up and running should get the credit," Lobo said. Lobo was full of praise of the Saligao garbage treatment plant and Parrikar reiterated that several such plants will come across Goa. including one at Bainguinim, which can deal with garbage from the whole of Panaji besides surrounding villages, while land also at Curchorem and other places is being identified for the purpose.
