Says competition held to showcase talent and organisational skills
CANACONA
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said there was nothing political about the State-level fugdi contest at Canacona, but it was aimed at merely promoting culture and traditions in the State.
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating the finals of Fugdi competition at Shristhal on Saturday.
“Over 80,000 registrations were made in 13 different competitions organised in all 40 assembly segments. We had given a platform not only to showcase talent in competition but also for the organisational skills of the youth.”
“We are trying to promote culture and traditions. For some, this may look political, but the BJP is merely conducting these activities for human development,” said Sawant.
Among those present included Dy Speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes, ST/SC Commission Chairman Ramesh Tawadkar, ZP (Poinguinim) Shobhana Velip, BJP Block President Nandip Bhagat and Mahila Block President Vinda Satarkar.
On the occasion, the Canacona Women’s Football Team coached by Cedric Travasso which won the second position was also felicitated by the chief minister.
