A team of Goa police on Wednesday nabbed notorious history-sheeter Hazrat Ali Shaikh (also known as Anwar Shaikh and Tiger Anwar) in a case of road rage.
The arrest comes after the police received a call from Hospicio on Tuesday evening informing that one person namely Ryan, a resident of Murida-Fatorda, was brought to Hospicio Hospital as a case of assault at Ramnagri in Maina-Curtorim jurisdiction.
In his complaint, the victim stated that an unknown person who was riding a Pulsar motorcycle restrained blocked his vehicle and assaulted him after hurling abuses.
The accused threatened to kill the complainant and assaulted him with a fist blow causing grievous injury to his nose.
After the Maina Curtorim police station registered a case under section 325, 308 of IPC, the Goa police formed several teams under the supervision of SP (South) Pankaj Kumar Singh.
The teams consisted of DySP Kiran Podwal and the police station in-charges of Maina Curtorim, Colva, Cuncolim, Quepem and Fatorda.
During the investigation, the accused was identified as history-sheeter Tiger Anwar. He was traced at Khandola Marcel along with another accused Prajot Bhandari, 28, also a resident of Murida-Fatorda.
SP South Pankaj Kumar Singh said both the accused have been arrested and further investigation is in progress. He said accused Anwar Sheikh was in jail in some other crime and was released only recently.
