No-trust motion: Curtorim dy sarpanch refutes all allegations

No-trust motion: Curtorim dy sarpanch refutes all allegations

MARGAO

Terming all allegations levelled by the signatories to the no-confidence motion against her as false and baseless, Curtorim Deputy Sarpanch Isabela Gomes e Rebello on Saturday said the most important development she has undertaken so far is to rid Curtorim Panchayat of corruption.

Addressing the media days after six members of the panchayat tabled a no-trust motion against her citing several reasons, Isabela said, “The most important development I can claim I have undertaken is making the panchayat corruption-free. I request you to give me a full term and then see the development.”

Referring to the allegations on her absence at the meetings, Isabela pointed out that an internal register is maintained and it is mandatory to sign the register at every meeting. “You can always check the register, which is kept in the panchayat. I can assure you that I have always taken the panch members into confidence and I am always cooperative towards any development,” she said, while refuting the allegation that she did not take other panchayat members into confidence while taking up development works.

“It is my belief that I am being targeted because I firmly stand against signing applications when proper documents are not attached. It is my duty to take a meeting of all the panch members before giving any NOCs. On many occasions, I have been forced to sign the applications without following due procedures,” Isabela alleged.

The media briefing was also attended by panch member Milagres Rodrigues and activist Felix Dias.
