The Public Works Department Minister Deepak Prabhu Pauskar on Tuesday said that potholes will be cleared within the next eight days and work of hot-mixing the State’s roads will commence from the last week of November.
“Since recent rain has changed conditions of the roads, we have revised the estimate for clearing work of potholes. Already, instructions have been given to contractors. Now the work will commence in next eight days and all potholes will be filled”, said Minister Pauskar.
Pauskar also informed that the quality bitumen which is required for construction of roads will be imported from Gulf countries. “50,000 tonnes of bitumen is the requirement per year for the State. We at least need to import two cargoes of 30,000 tonnes. The proposal is under consideration of state government. We have discussed the issue with Chief Minister.
