Announcing the decision, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said it would help tide over the shortage of doctors in the public sector. “Earlier we had extended the retirement age of teaching doctors at the Goa Medical College (GMC) from 60 to 65. There was a demand to extend the age of non teaching doctors. We have taken a decision to extend the age from 60 to 62. It will affect doctors in the Directorate of Health Services (DHS),” the CM said adding that there are around 100 doctors on the rolls in the DHS.
