Now, Goyant Kollso Naka seeks Gaude’s intervention to stop track doubling work

MARGAO
The Goyant Kollso Naka on Thursday said that around 26 MLAs, both from the ruling and opposition, have supported the demand for the immediate stop to the ongoing track doubling works in the State despite the Supreme Court verdict.

A delegation of GKN comprising of co-convenor Abhijit Prabhudesai, Xavier Fernandes, Daina Tavares and others called on Minister for Art & Culture Govind Gaude at the Ravindra Bhavan, Margao and handed over a memorandum seeking his intervention to stop the ongoing track doubling works.

During discussions, the Minister told the delegation that he has been supporting the anti-coal movement from day one, adding that he would discuss the demand raised by the people for stoppage of the ongoing works with the Chief Minister.

Abhijit Prabhudesai later told the media that not only Minister Govind Gaude, but as many as 26 MLAs, both from the ruling and the opposition, have supposed their demand to stop the track doubling works since the Supreme Court has withdrawn the permission for the work in the ghat section.

“We have till date called on 26 MLAs, and we have received encouraging responses from these MLAs. They are also of the view that the Railways should stop the ongoing works since it cannot carry out the work in the ghat section,” Abhijit said.

He said the GKN will soon call on the Chief Minister with the plea to order a stop to the track doubling works in the light of the Supreme Court order.
