MARGAO
The Margao Municipal Council on Thursday resolved to recover a whopping Rs 1.20 crore from the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) towards the collection of garbage from the PDA markets.
The garbage dues have been pending since the year 2014-15, with the City Fathers demanding that the civic body give a nod to the Chief Officer Rohit Kadam to set in process the motion to recover the outstanding dues.
The Chief Officer later told the members at the meeting that he has discussed the matter with the SGPDA Member Secretary Vinod Kumar, adding that he would brief the PDA Member Secretary on the Council’s decision on payment of the garbage dues amounting to Rs 1.20 crore. “Since the Margao Municipality and the SGPDA are government bodies, we will discuss the matter first and how best to resolve the issue,” Kadam added.
