Against the backdrop of the recent crimes in the district, all the police stations in the South Goa police will conduct night nakabandis in the jurisdiction.
District police chief, SP Pankaj Kumar Singh informed that the nakabandis will be carried out at all major locations across the the district from midnight to 5 am every day.
“The policemen manning the nakabandis will intercept all the vehicles that cross the nakabandis. We will check the documents as well as the antecedents of the occupants,” he said, adding that the police will also maintain a database of the operation and seek feedback every day.
When his attention was drawn to allegations of extortion in the name of nakabandis and night patrolling, SP Pankaj said a mechanism will be created wherein the people who are intercepted or challaned
will be called to find out their experience at the nakabandi point.
