NSS camp held at Bandora

PONDA: Chess player Amogh Namshiker appealed to the students of Sanjeevan Higher Secondary School at Bandora to involve themselves in social programmes, which will help them to improve their personality development.

He was speaking at the NSS camp organized by Sanjeevan, Bandora. Namshiker, civil engineer by profession, was the chief guest for the inaugural function of NSS camp. Principal Avdhut Kamat and teacher Savita Kopad were also present. About 40 students participated in the camp.

Speaking further, Namshiker said through NSS activities they can learn services towards the society and their responsibilities. “Participate in social activities, it will help you to improve your personality,” he added.

Savita Kopad gave details of the activities to be conducted during the camp. Avdhut Kamat welcomed and also proposed the vote of thanks.

8-yr-old boy drowns while fishing

An eight-year-old boy from Jharkhand drowned while fishing in a water body located in a field at Socolwaddo-Assagao on Monday.

MAPUSA:According to reports, the incident occurred at about 11 am when the deceased, Dhiraj Matut, along with his 10-year-old brother, had gone for fishing in the field at Assagao.  As the duo was fishing in the pond, Dhiraj slipped and fell into the water body.
