Number of trees falling reported in Pernem

Torrential rains disrupted normal life in Pernem taluka on Wednesday.

According to Pernem fire officials, an uprooted coconut tree crashed onto a car (GA-11-T-1258) belonging to Anand Shetgaonkar at Morjim. The car owner suffered a loss of Rs 25,000 in the incident.
Also, A tree fell on a bus shed at Devsu-Korgao, while a tree uprooted near a temple at Palyem.
Coconut trees fell on two houses in Mandrem and Morjim, disrupting power supply in Morjim. Traffic along the Chonsai-Parsem road was blocked, after a tree fell on the road.
Fire fighters rushed to all the sites and cleared the trees from the roads and houses.

Canacona firemen kept busy

While heavy rains poured, fire personnel were kept on their toes since the wee hours of Wednesday attending calls of tree falls on roads and houses in Canacona taluka.
