Nuvem demands report on slag used for bypass

The Nuvem gram sabha convened by deputy sarpanch Nelly Mascarenhas, expressed unhappiness over the ambiguity as regards the submission or otherwise of the GSPCB report regarding the slag used for Nuvem bypass road. There were demands that a technical hand from GSPCB be requested to appear before the panchayat to explain the details regading the slag.
The gram sabha was also informed that the sub-committees under the Standing committee for formulation of the master plan were formed by the panchayat. They are Production Committee, Social Justice Committee, Amenities Committee, Standing Committee and Supervisory Committee.
These committees were constituted from the 11 elected panch members, informed panchayat secretary. The list was then dispatched to the BDO, he added.
This was however strongly contested by residents who claimed that these committees have to be approved in the gram sabha. “The reason of time bar cited for constituting these committees is not justifiable as this situation arose due to the non-convening of gram sabha on time and hence the same could not be attributed to the residents,” they said.
The gram sabha also demanded that the plan and details of the four lane road through Nuvem be placed in the panchayat office for the information of the public.
Dy Sarpanch Nelly Mascarenhas informed that the weekly bazaar will be held every Monday at the panchayat complex. She requested the residents to collect their ration cards before December 10.
