OBC leader: 4,400 community students denied post-metric scholarship for 2 yrs

PANAJI
OBC leader Madhu Naik has complained that around 4,400 students from the Other Backward Class (OBC) who had applied for the post-metric scholarship have not got the benefit since the last two academic years.

“The deserving students have not got the post-metric scholarship and we want to raise this issue but who will address this problem if there is no chairperson at the OBC Commission since the last seven months,” asked Naik.

He said the State government gives pre-metric and post-metric scholarships to the OBC and ST students every year.

“Around 3,400 students in 2019-20 and around 1,007 students in 2020-21 had filed applications for post-metric scholarships. However in these last two years, post-metric scholarship have not been given to OBC students and they are suffering due to this,” he said.

“The issue was raised before the former OBC Commission chairperson Vishwas Satarkar. However, he got a new posting as information commissioner and the issue has not been resolved,” said Naik.
