Officials continue ‘defacing’ political hoardings with poll code in force

MARGAO

Salcete taluka Mamlatdar officials are still on the job of painting and defacing the big size hoardings of political parties in the jurisdiction of Fatorda and Nuvem constituencies with the election code of conduct coming into force.

Joint Mamlatdar Rosario Carvalho with workers in tow went about painting the hoardings black to disfigure the portraits of the political personalities and to blank the messages.

The Joint Mamlatdar supervised the operation as the workers climbed up on the hoardings to execute the job. After completing the operation on the Fatorda-Nuvem border around noon, the squad later headed to Verna which played host to a large number of hoardings put up by the political parties.

A couple of hoardings put up by the government, however, were spared after the authorities insisted that they would remove the material from the hoardings in a day or two.

The authorities had requisitioned the Fire Brigade to support the ongoing drive to remove banners and hoardings with the help of a ladder.
